Thinking about The Collett School? Come and join one of our Open Mornings, where we will give you an overview of the school, provide you with a tour and give you the chance to ask questions.

You may wish to follow the visit up by attending a Friday morning Whole School Assembly, or, make an appointment with our Head of School.

Friday Assemblies
Attending a Friday assembly will give you a real sense of the ethos of the school. This is a celebratory assembly with singing, awards and pupils' full participation. Great fun and you don't need to book - just turn up on a Friday morning (8.50 - 9.30).

Monthly Open Mornings
Parents and families are invited to tour the school to see a normal morning in class. These run each month - the last Tuesday of the month as a general rule. Please book through Fritha, Caroline or Goska in the school office on 01442 398988

Head of School Informal Chats
Pam Stocks sees several parents each week to talk about individual children and ways we may be able to support parents in making decisions as to whether Collett is the right school. Please book through Fritha, Caroline or Goska in the school office on 01442 398988.

Admissions Process

The Collett School, Special Educational Needs is a Learning Disabilities School for children with complex needs including MLD, ASD and SLCN.


Every pupil at The Collett School has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) issued by Hertfordshire LA. Entry to the school can be at any age via Hertfordshire's SN Teams; The Collett School is not its own admissions authority. Other counties and London boroughs may apply to Hertfordshire's St Albans and Dacorum SN Team in seeking to place a child at The Collett School.

SENDIASS

Was Called Parent Partnership
SENDIASS is an impartial information, advice and support service funded by Hertfordshire County Council for parents, carers, young people (0-25) and professionals. The service offers a personalised confidential service to help parents understand how special educational needs are assessed and managed, so that they can make informed educational choices. Hertfordshire SEND Strategy

Hertfordshire Local Authority's SN Team make the decisions on placement of children with LDD and this may include children with Autism. The review of education for children with Autism undertaken by Dr Glenys Jones is accessible below.
